Questions and Answers*
#1. Is a salt water swimming pool or an ozone healthier if your dog drinks the water?
Although salt water pools only contain 1/10th the amount of salt that the ocean has, we do not recommend that you allow your pets to drink from the pool water. Pool water contains chemicals, conditioners, and acid. All of these things can be a problem for you dog or other pet.*
#2 Do you need to drain a swimming pool to change from a chlorine to a salt water?
It is not necessary to drain it to change it over to salt water but it would still be a good idea to drain it in order to put fresh water into it and avoid the already chlorinated water entering the chlorinator.*
#3 How many gallons are in a swimming pool?
A good "in-the-ballpark" answer could be attained by applying the following formula.
Number of gallons in a rectangular p.= Length (in feet)x width (in feet)x average depth (in feet) x 7.4
Number of gallons in a circular or rounded p.=(the same three variables)x 6*
#4 How do you drain a swimming pool?
We recommend that you use a professional to drain it for you. Make sure that the pool professional opens the hydrostatic release plug if their is one availible. Most pools in Las Vegas do not have these plugs. When the professional drains it make sure that they drain the water into your main sewer drain in the front yard. If they drain it into the drain coming out of the house in the back or side yard it can clog up your piping and end up draining all 25,000 gallons into your kitchen. If they just drain it into the street you can be fined.*
#5 Why are phosphates in my swimming p.?
Phosphates get into you pool through basically two methods. The first is due to chemicals being used in your yard that unintentionally are introduced into it. The second method for phosphates to get into it is through certain types of chemicals (especially tile cleaners).*
#6 How do you measure water evaporation?
To measure water evaporation you will need to turn off the auto-fill and place a watertight container (preferable a bucket) into the water and fill it up to the same water level as the pool. It may help to place something heavy in the bottom of the bucket to stop it from floating (this will have no influence on the measurement process). Over the course of a week or two keep and eye on the bucket water level compared to the water level in general. Since both the bucket and pool should evaporate at the same level, if you notice the pool level lower than the bucket level it is likely that you have a leak.*
#7 How do you clean pool tile?
Trying to clean calcium deposits from tile is best left to a professional tile cleaner. They will use a sandblasting process that blasts of the calcium deposits without harming the tile. To visit a company that does this go to Pool Tile Cleaning in Las Vegas*
#8 How do you clean the surface of a Murky pool?
One of the best ways to start the process of cleaning murky pool water is to thoroughly clean off the surface of the water. This can be done by squirting small amounts of "dawn" dish soap (make sure that it is phosphate free) into the pool. This soap will cause the surface matter to move to the sides where you can easily take it out with a net. For more information.*
#9 How much acid do you add to a swimming pool?
Acid is added to lower the PH level. Because of this how much acid you add depends on not only the size but also the PH level that your pool is at. Click on the link to find a calculator that will assist in this calculation.

#10 How do you lower the Chlorine level in a swimming pool?
The easiest way to lower the chlorine level in a pool is to dilute the chlorine saturated water with chlorine free water by partially draining the pool water level and refilling what was drained with fresh water. Once you have done this you should have lowered the level enough to start the process of balancing the pool again.*
#11 Why would pool water be green?
Most likely your pool water is green due to algae in the pool. Algae can be corrected through a few processes. Try triple shocking with liquid chlorine, 30L for every 10000L of water in your pool. If the algae keeps returning, have your water tested for Phosphates, which come from decaying leaves or inadvertent fertilizer put into your pool. If phosphates are your problem getting rid of them will fix your problem guaranteed. For Swimming pool cleaning and maintenance service in Miramar, Florida, (fl) go to poolservicemiramar.com. They know how to add the phos removal chemical and triple shock....problem solved.*
#12 What can I do to stop the calcium on my pool tile from building up again?
As you will hear from just about every pool tile cleaner you talk to in Vegas, here in the desert southwest the water is hard... I am talking rock hard, marble hard, anyway it helps to get the point across I will use. In a situation like this it is important for the pool owner to understand that in the long run, unless you are willing to put in a lot of time scrubbing, you are going to lose the fight against calcium buildup, I mean, if it is in the water how do you keep it off the tile?
To assist an owner in slowing down the process I would recommend that the owner, at least once a week, get into their pool and scrubs the tile. It is important that you do this before the white calcium begins to build up, do it while the tile still looks good. If your tile is already covered then call an experienced company to get it off before you start your maintenance routine.
If you scrub the tile, especially at the water line and spillways, before you see buildup occurring then you will manage to put off the unavoidable expense of paying someone to bead blast the tile for at least another year or so. *
